Resolume AutoMate

AutoMate is an automation system for Resolume. It allows you to build sequences of looks, which span layers and groups. You can use it to build autopilot compositions which sequence column triggers. It can also be used as a tool to enable reliable recall of specific looks (including setting layer opacity and other settings). It comes with 5 separate plugins for Resolume, and a helper app which routes the OSC commands back to Resolume.

AutoMate includes 5 plugins

• Clip Trigger - This effect can be added to video clips as an Ableton Live style "end action", allowing one to build follow sequences, like a fully customisable autopilot, complete with the ability to randomly pick clips from a defined range.
  
• Column Trigger - This effect can trigger columns in groups and at the composition level, it works similarly to the clip trigger plugin, but allows one to sequence looks built as columns.
  
• Custom Control - This effect lets you send commands to any internal Resolume address, you can send text strings, integers or floats. Upto 4 commands can be sent at once allowing you to send RGBA colours etc
  
• Float - This effect sends floats, allowing you to control functions such as layer opacity.
  
• Tap BPM - This is an experimental effect which links to an FFT audio input and taps the BPM based on the amplitude of the signal, it is not very accurate with most music, but has some limited use with 4 on the floor dance music. However I would not recommend relying on this!

All the plugins have built in help, and the ability to set a custom thumbnail text and colour, this is intended for effects which are loaded directly rather than on top of other media. Typically I will have a control layer which I set to ignore column triggers. By loading AutoMate plugins into this layer you get easy access to your controls with labels and colours to make it easy to find things in your composition. Linking the triggers to timeline or BPM sync allows you to build sequencers.
